Worked example
5 mg in 2 mL of bacteriostatic water is 2.5 mg/mL, or 2,500 mcg/mL. A 250 mcg aliquot is 0.1 mL, which reads as 10 units on a U-100 syringe. The vial gives 20 such aliquots. Halve the diluent and the same aliquot becomes 5 units, harder to read; double it and it becomes 20.
Reconstitution notes
Swab the stopper. Add the diluent slowly down the inside wall of the vial, not onto the powder. Swirl gently; do not shake. Label the vial with the date and the concentration. Store reconstituted solutions at 2 to 8 °C and use within the period stated on the product page. Storage details for each compound are on its page.
Concentration (peptide in the vial divided by the diluent added), the volume of solution that contains a target amount, that volume as units on a U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL), and how many such aliquots the vial holds.
Enough that the volume you will measure is comfortably readable on the syringe, usually 10 to 50 units. More diluent gives larger, easier volumes; it does not change the total peptide in the vial.
