What are research peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the same building blocks as proteins but much smaller, usually between two and fifty units long. Research peptides are synthetic versions made for laboratory work: studying receptors, cell signalling, tissue models and analytical methods. They are supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed vial, which keeps them stable until a laboratory makes them up with a diluent. How the UK research peptide market works

Almost all research peptides are synthesised by contract manufacturers abroad and sold on by UK suppliers. The differences between suppliers come down to what happens in between: whether each lot is tested and the certificate published, whether the stock is held in the UK or posted from overseas, whether the business is a registered UK company, and whether it sells for research honestly or with a nod to human use. Those four points are what to compare, ahead of price.

The quality checks that matter

A certificate of analysis should name the laboratory, report purity by HPLC and identity by mass spectrometry, and carry the lot number printed on your vial. Independent testing on top of the manufacturer's certificate is better still. Storage and handling

The law in the UK

Most research peptides are not controlled drugs, so buying and holding them for research is lawful. They are not licensed medicines, so they cannot be sold or supplied for human use; a few, such as retatrutide, are investigational medicines still in trials.
