What is tesamorelin?

Tesamorelin is a 44-amino-acid analogue of growth hormone releasing hormone with a trans-3-hexenoyl group on the N-terminus that protects it from enzymatic breakdown. It is the most thoroughly studied GHRH analogue in humans and is licensed in the United States (as Egrifta) for a specific indication in HIV patients; it is not licensed in the UK or EU. What the research covers

Large controlled trials report increased pulsatile growth-hormone secretion and IGF-1, and reductions in visceral adipose tissue, with adverse effects including injection-site reactions, joint pain and changes in glucose tolerance. It is the reference compound against which other GHRH analogues and secretagogues (sermorelin, CJC-1295, ipamorelin) are compared.

Tesamorelin vs ipamorelin

Different mechanisms: tesamorelin is a GHRH analogue acting at the GHRH receptor; ipamorelin is a ghrelin-receptor agonist (a secretagogue). They are studied together because they act on the same axis by different routes.

It is a third-party laboratory report (BTLabs, West Palm Beach, Florida) obtained by our supplier on its own vials from the lot, reporting identity by FTIR and purity by HPLC, with a purity result of 99.6%. Reconstitution and handling

Tesamorelin arrives as a lyophilised cake under an aluminium crimp seal. Let the vial reach room temperature before opening so that condensation does not form on the powder. Swab the stopper with an alcohol swab, draw the chosen volume of bacteriostatic water (our bacteriostatic water guide explains why it is used rather than sterile water) with a sterile syringe, and add it slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the powder. Swirl gently until clear; never shake, which can denature the peptide. Label the vial with the date and concentration. Lot traceability
