What is TB-500?

TB-500 is the research-market name for thymosin beta-4, a 43-amino-acid protein present in almost every cell and abundant in wound fluid and platelets. The name is used for two things: the full-length synthetic protein and a short fragment of its actin-binding region (Ac-LKKTETQ). Ours is full-length thymosin beta-4: the certificate for lot 2607024 identifies it by a molecular ion mass of 4963.49 Da, the mass of the whole 43-residue protein. It is supplied here as lyophilised powder at 99%+ HPLC purity in 5 mg sealed vials.

What the research covers

Thymosin beta-4 has a substantial literature: animal studies report faster dermal wound closure, reduced inflammation, improved cell migration into injured tissue, and cardiac repair after infarction in rodent and pig models. Full-length thymosin beta-4, the form we supply, has been through human trials for corneal and dermal wounds; it is not licensed as a medicine anywhere. WADA prohibits it.

TB-500 vs BPC-157

The two are often confused because they are studied together. BPC-157 is a gastric-protein fragment acting on growth-factor and nitric-oxide pathways at injury sites; TB-500 (thymosin beta-4) is an actin-binding protein acting on cell movement. Quality and testing

The certificate of analysis for lot 2607024 of TB-500 is published on our certificates page and linked above. It is the manufacturer's QC batch certificate for the bulk lot the vials were filled from, reporting identity by mass spectrometry and purity by HPLC, with a purity result of 99.68%. ALTA's own independent third-party test of the finished vials from this lot is pending and will be published on the same row when it arrives. The lot number on the vial label matches the certificate. Reconstitution and handling

TB-500 arrives as a lyophilised cake under an aluminium crimp seal. Let the vial reach room temperature before opening so that condensation does not form on the powder. Swab the stopper with an alcohol swab, draw the chosen volume of bacteriostatic water (our bacteriostatic water guide explains why it is used rather than sterile water) with a sterile syringe, and add it slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the powder. Swirl gently until clear; never shake, which can denature the peptide. Label the vial with the date and concentration. Lot traceability

Every TB-500 vial carries a printed lot number and expiry. ALTA's own independent test of each lot is published on the same row as it arrives. If the number on your vial does not match a certificate on our site, contact support before using it.
