What is DSIP?

DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a nonapeptide, Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, first isolated in 1977 by Schoenenberger and Monnier from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits in induced slow-wave sleep. It occurs naturally in mammalian brain and peripheral tissues, crosses the blood-brain barrier, and has a short half-life. We supply the synthetic peptide at 99%+ HPLC purity in 10 mg sealed vials.

What the research covers

DSIP was studied intensively through the 1980s and 1990s, mainly in Europe. Animal work reports increased delta-wave (slow-wave) sleep, reduced stress-induced release of corticotropin, and effects on body temperature and pain thresholds; some studies failed to replicate the sleep effect. Small human studies in insomnia, chronic pain and alcohol or opioid withdrawal reported mixed results. Research interest has revived recently, but modern controlled data remain thin and it is not licensed as a medicine anywhere.

Quality and testing

The certificate of analysis for lot 2608055 of DSIP is published on our certificates page and linked above. It is the manufacturer's QC batch certificate for the bulk lot the vials were filled from, reporting identity by mass spectrometry and purity by HPLC, with a purity result of 98.94%. ALTA's own independent third-party test of the finished vials from this lot is pending and will be published on the same row when it arrives. The lot number on the vial label matches the certificate. Reconstitution and handling

DSIP arrives as a lyophilised cake under an aluminium crimp seal. Let the vial reach room temperature before opening so that condensation does not form on the powder. Swab the stopper with an alcohol swab, draw the chosen volume of bacteriostatic water (our bacteriostatic water guide explains why it is used rather than sterile water) with a sterile syringe, and add it slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the powder. Swirl gently until clear; never shake, which can denature the peptide. Label the vial with the date and concentration. Lot traceability

Every DSIP vial carries a printed lot number and expiry.
