What is Selank?

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide, Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, built from tuftsin (a natural fragment of immunoglobulin G) with the same stabilising Pro-Gly-Pro tail used in Semax. It was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow and registered for clinical use in Russia in 2009. Supplied here as lyophilised powder at 99%+ HPLC purity in a 10 mg sealed vial for laboratory research.

What the research covers

Russian clinical studies in anxiety disorders report anxiolytic effects comparable to low-dose benzodiazepines without sedation, tolerance or withdrawal; mechanistic work points to modulation of GABAergic transmission and effects on serotonin and enkephalin metabolism. There are no Western controlled trials, and it is not licensed as a medicine outside Russia.

Quality and testing

Every lot of Selank is released with its certificate of analysis published on our certificates page against the lot number on the vial label. The certificate for the current lot is pending publication, and ALTA's own independent third-party test of the lot is pending; both are added to the certificates page as they arrive. Specification: ≥ 99% (HPLC), supplied as lyophilised powder, 2 ml glass vial, sealed, 10 mg per vial.

Reconstitution and handling

Selank arrives as a lyophilised cake under an aluminium crimp seal. Let the vial reach room temperature before opening so that condensation does not form on the powder. Swab the stopper with an alcohol swab, draw the chosen volume of bacteriostatic water (our bacteriostatic water guide explains why it is used rather than sterile water) with a sterile syringe, and add it slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the powder. Swirl gently until clear; never shake, which can denature the peptide. Label the vial with the date and concentration. Lot traceability

Every Selank vial carries a printed lot number and expiry. The same lot number appears on the certificate of analysis for that lot on our certificates page, which names who issued it (the manufacturer's QC laboratory for a batch certificate, or the outside laboratory for a third-party report) so it can be checked directly. ALTA's own independent test of each lot is published on the same row as it arrives. If the number on your vial does not match a certificate on our site, contact support before using it. Certificates are kept online for the life of the product plus two years.
