What is Semax?

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide, Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, built from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4-7) with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail that slows enzymatic breakdown. It was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow and has been in clinical use in Russia since 1994. We supply the peptide as lyophilised powder at 99%+ HPLC purity in a 10 mg sealed vial for laboratory research.

What the research covers

Semax has a larger human literature than most research peptides. A controlled study in healthy volunteers reported improved attention and short-term memory across an eight-hour shift after intranasal administration, with effects recorded 20 to 24 hours later. Rodent studies show rapid increases in BDNF and TrkB expression in the hippocampus and activation of dopaminergic and serotonergic systems, without stimulant-like cardiovascular effects. It is not licensed as a medicine outside Russia.

Vial or finished spray?

This vial is the raw peptide for laboratory work. If you want Semax as a finished, preserved, metered nasal spray sold as a supplement for personal use, that is a different product with a different legal footing, made by our sister brand COGENT and sold at cogentnootropics.co.uk. Quality and testing

Each lot of Semax is sent to an independent UK laboratory before release for identity by mass spectrometry, purity by HPLC, residual solvents and bacterial endotoxin. The lot number on the vial label matches the certificate on our certificates page, and no lot is released for sale until the certificate is in hand. Specification: ≥ 99% (HPLC), supplied as lyophilised powder, 2 ml glass vial, sealed, 10 mg per vial.

Reconstitution and handling

Semax arrives as a lyophilised cake under an aluminium crimp seal. Let the vial reach room temperature before opening so that condensation does not form on the powder. Swab the stopper with an alcohol swab, draw the chosen volume of bacteriostatic water with a sterile syringe, and add it slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the powder. Swirl gently until clear; never shake, which can denature the peptide. Label the vial with the date and concentration. Lot traceability

Every Semax vial carries a printed lot number and expiry. The same lot number appears on the certificate of analysis for that batch, which names the testing laboratory and the report number so it can be verified directly. If the number on your vial does not match a certificate on our site, contact support before using it. Certificates are kept online for the life of the product plus two years.
